Erdem
Over and over, I have gushed over this label. The use of florals, bold prints, and cute silhouettes on dresses, coats, tailored shirts will always have a place in my heart. However, the winning look for me in this collection is the blue lace with white outfits. The way the lace just falls over the model’s shoulders and hangs on the back—lovely.

Erdem FW 2011
Speaking of very ladylike things, Erdem is one of those labels that I can imagine wearing to fancy places without losing any of the whimsy. With this collection (the label’s first Pre-Fall), Erdem decided to take a decidedly more sophisticated and mature look which is great for me: I now know I can wear beautiful prints in girly silhouettes at any age.

It’s simply unfair what Erdem is doing to my heart. All-over lace, florals, and PETER PAN COLLARS on blouses and feminine dresses. Seriously, did you just design my dream wardrobe (on days I feel whimsical and twee)?

Erdem basically used two colors: black and blue. Although usually that would mean a minimalist collection—which is not always a bad thing, of course—Erdem doesn’t roll that way. Lots of beautiful prints, lace, and embroidery that would elevate any outfit from good to grandiose.

I really was in love with Erdem’s Fall collection: so many bold colors in every piece! Dresses with exaggerated puff sleeves (and pockets!), cut-out sweaters that transition into floor-length skirts and gowns, belts in everything (!), and delicious outerwear in the form of capes, green-army parkas, and coats with a layered frayed lace. The models all walked down an elegant and gigantic staircase before actually getting on the catwalk. I just thought that was a fun bit to add because you can’t see it in the collage.
